Great honest review. I don't have an m11mc, but tge k3iiim and I've discovered almost the same, ISO invariant shooting. As for menus I agree, just let me get to the setting I need to change right now, else why am I in the menu.. for this I like my Sigma fpL. Happy shooting

I have a pair of SLs and in 2024, feel that the SL2-S may be the right camera to upgrade to in terms of value. Allow me to start using my SL and M lenses again. Great shots of various parts of India too!

Enjoyed this, especially the work-hourse, side-kick, challenge, and vintage concepts. For me, the 50mm Summicron is the primary work-horse, and the 35mm Summicron is the vice-primary work-horse. For vintage, I love the Summitar 50/2.0 collapsible (vintage 1953), its outer zone bokeh is just wonderful, especially in B&W. Cheers.

X2D better colour abs image quality than Leica M11?

Dear Gajan, great video. I would like some advice on a 35mm M mount lens for M-11 (non-Leica brand as I am an amateur photographer with some budget concerns). Do you have any recommendations? Cheers.

I wouldn't recommend living the camera while charging by usb, why? it might get stolen, bump and drop, minor things like that can happen. I mean this is a more or less 12 thousand dollars camera not including the lens, and it is so expensive just to leave it on the table.

Other manufacturers throw tons of corrective lensgroups into their lenses. That is why other lenses are so big. Leica does not have the space in their M llenses for corrective groups. They need to make the initial image of the lens as good as possible. And that costs some money. Additionallly to that they are a small company. They are smaller than Pentax. People often forget that because everybody talks about Leica.

I always considered the 50 as neither fish nor fowl. But it'a the cheapest and fastest high quality lens and was the kit lens back in the days. In my opinion, I would recommend instead the 35mm. It's a "normal wide" and is great for snapshot photography by using the hyperfocal distance. It also works well combined with a medium telephoto (80mm/90mm).

The greatness of the camera will be revealed when you use it for landscape photography and low light photography or portrait photography. It's my very personal view. The pictures here you shot is possible with my nikon d7000 and 35 mm 1.8 prime.

Just picked up mine yesterday and have to say, took it out last night and had a wonderful experience. Agree with you that we should use it for what it is, and all the negative people that have commented just need to lighten up. It is not a "camera to end all cameras". It is a great tool that has a lot of features that will inspire a photographer to "create". I am a photographer, I have worked in this industry for a long time and shoot Sony and Leica combined with GM lenses, and full range of vintage glass. But this Xaomi is just fun to walk around with, be able to flip from 12 mm to tele, play with the filters (and yes the HC BNW is awesome). Enjoyed your perspective and genuine feedback on the device. Pretty much sums up why I got one and I too look forward to "having it around for awhile".

As a published photographer for 39 years and someone who has shot with many brands including Nikon, Canon, Minolta, Pentax, Bronica, Contax, Sigma, Zeiss, Hasselblad, Fuji, and Leica. I would say without a doubt that I disagree with atleast half of what you said. First when I hear the word Fanboy mentioned, Ive heard that many more times targeted toward Leica users then Fuji. Also..Fuji have a great photography community of professionals that use their gear. I wouldn’t say as you put it, they are more geared toward only average consumers, not at all. The difference is that Fuji have a wider range of affordable cameras that can appeal all the way from the average consumer up to Professionals. They have shown companies like Leica and Hasselblad that they can produce excellent Medium Format and rangefinder cameras that don’t have to sacrifice quality for price or be so god awful expensive that only rich people and high paid commercial photographers are the only ones that can afford them! So in my opinion I think Fuji is much better for the photography community over Leica..

Why is this not for professionals? The only flaw I see is single card slot - which yes would prevent me from using it on paid shoots - but I am curious to know what else is missing? Thank you.

Leica lenses are good (very good) but overpriced (as usual). Leica M11 is heavily overpriced and experienced locked-up (maybe CPU is underpowered or operating system bugs). This issue is NOT acceptable for this price range. A potentially locked-up camera is NOT a camera to be used by professionals.

I think 50mm is best for most people. Neater compositions. But a 28mm is good as the second lens. 35mm is just neither here nor there. But most people should consider a 50mm as their first lens. It gives you a perfect balance that’s not telephoto nor wide. Also how come you call photographers “creatives” and not “photographers”? It’s a yellow card offence second only to that word “content”.

I'm excited for this haven't gotten mine as yet waiting on my order, photography kit will have to wait a few months to get
